Attitudes Towards Research in Visual Arts Courses Abstract: This study aims to develop a scale for determining the attitudes of middle school students towards research in visual arts courses. The sample of the study is made up of 248 students randomly selected from among the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students receiving education in a middle school in Yenimahalle district of Ankara in the first semester of 2014-2015 school year. The items of the scale was determined by the researcher in accordance with the expert opinions and a literature review, and the draft scale with 27 items was designed. In order to test the construct validity of the scale, exploratory factor analyses were made through SPSS 20 software and the confirmatory factor analyses were made through LISREL software; as a result of these analyses, the scale was reduced to 19 items. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) value of the scale was found to be 0,902. As a result of the statistical analysis, the result of the Barlett Sphericity test was found to be significant (χ2=1809,695, df=171, p Journal: Eurasian Education & Literature Journal Pages: 1-8 Volume: 2 Issue: 2 Year: 2015 Month: Feb DOI: 10.17740/eas.edu.2015-V2-01 File-URL: https://eurasianacademy.org/index.php/edulit/article/view/470 File-Format: Application/pdf Handle: RePEc:eas:edulit:v:2:y:2015:i:2:p:1-8 Template-Type: ReDIF-Article 1.0 Author-Name: Hüseyin IZGAR Author-Email: hizgar@bayburt.edu.tr Author-Workplace-Name: Bayburt Üniversitesi Title: AN INVESTIGATION ABOUT GOOD GOVERNANCE WHICH IS THE METHOD OF MANAGEMENT IN MODERN SOCIETY Abstract: Today ?governance? concept has introduced to be used instead of understanding public management which is accepted as a more hierarchical relationship between state and citizen. This management understanding is implemented to the life through e-government. In this research, it is aimed to measure the school managers? perceptions about good governance with the aid of their e-governance and its applications. School managers? perceptions about good governance were investigated according to variables such as their genders and schools (public and private) they served. 170 school managers from Konya Central districts participated in this study. As data collection tools, personal information form and ?Scale of Good Governance? developed by Sirajul Haque Kandhro (2011) was used in the study. The scale was adapted to Turkish by researcher. The scale was consisted of totally seven sub-scales; accountability, transparency, efficiency and effectiveness, responsiveness, rule of law, participation and strategic vision. Arithmetic mean, standard deviation and independent t-test methods were used to analyze data. School managers? perceptions about good governance according to their genders were found significantly differences in favor of women managers for accountability and participation of sub scales. According to the schools (public- private) they manage, it was found significantly differences in favor of school managers who were served in public schools for accountability, transparency, rule of law and strategic vision of subscales. The research was carried out according to ?the experimentation model that requires pre-test and post-test with control group? and the answers were searched by applying correlation research techniques to sub problems which were determined according to purpose of the research. 63 students (30 control and 33 experiment group) that were attending to a primary school were forming the sample of the research. In order to gather data tests such as, algebraic problem solving skills test (ten open ended problems) was used. Mathematics worksheets were designed according to related field literature by the researcher. According to posttest results, the teaching with mathematics worksheets was more effective than the traditional method. PERFORMANCE WITH CRYPTOGRAPHIC ACTIVITIES Abstract: The main aim of this study is to point out that students may consolidate the subjects with encryption method and teachers may use cryptographic activities to evaluation students? performance. The sample of the study composed of 33, eight grade students from public school. The cryptographic activities were applied to students. At the end of the activity, students wrote their opinions about it. Most of the students stated that they find cryptographic activity enjoyable and funny. Students built up a certain relationship between mathematics and encryption and they stated that they have realized they come up with mathematics in daily life with this feature of it. Students were asked to prepare a similar activity to evaluate their performance. It is observed that many of them can prepare accurate and proper cryptographic activities. Views about Earth Science Diagrams Abstract: Earth science is very important for all human-beings. Visuals also have an importance place in learning and teaching science. In this study, an aspect of teachers? perceptions of earth science diagrams was studied. The research took place in Turkey. The sample of the research was 30, 15 of which were science teachers and others were non-scientist teachers. At the beginning of the study, earth science diagrams of in the middle school science textbooks were chosen by the researchers. Then the chosen diagrams were presented to the teachers and ?what attract your attention in those diagrams? asked to them. The data was treated by qualitative data analysis (open coding). It is clear fact that science teachers have more knowledge than the other group teachers. However, the study showed that teachers need an education about the process of constructing and reading diagrams.
