Van Hiele geometric thinking levels were in order and they include educational instruction ways. By this study, we proposed that Van Hiele levels and geometric success levels will increase by the proper instruction of Wasan geometry. The subjects of the study were 60 preservice teachers from a public university primary education department. Three data instruments were used: Van Hiele test developed by Usiskin and two parallel achievement tests on the topics of tangents of circles, similar triangles, and Pythagorean Theorem. After 2 weeks of intervention, pre and post test results were compared and analyzed. In the intervention group, there was a slight increase in the achievement scores but in the control group, there was a decline. Van Hiele results showed decrease both in the groups. By the chi-square tests, there was significant increase in the number of the preservice teachers with low Van Hiele levels. Between day instruction and evening instruction classes, with respect to the posttests of two groups (experimental and control), there found to be significant difference. Increase in the achievement of intervention group was identified as low. Then day classes (1st education) and evening classes (2nd education) students were compared. We realized that groups were not equally distributed. In short, Wasan geometry had a possible effect on success of the students. MATHEMATICS ANXIETY LEVELS AND THEIR PERCEPTIONS ABOUT MATHEMATICS ANXIETY SOURCES Abstract: The aim of this study is to determine the mathematics anxiety levels of pre-service elementary education teachers and to investigate the sources of their mathematics anxiety. This study was conducted with 150 pre-service elementary school teachers. In order to gather data, ?Mathematics Anxiety Rating Scale: Short Form? (Baloglu, 2010) was applied to the pre-service teachers. Additionally, interviews were carried out five pre-service teachers. In the analysis of gained quantitative data, descriptive statistics were used. Furthermore, the interview data were analysed by conducting qualitative analytic methods. Results demonstrate that, pre-service teachers? mathematical anxiety level average was between ?never feel anxious? and ?very rarely feel anxious?. However, six pre-service teachers? anxiety level were at ?feel anxious?. Five of them were voluntary for conducting semi-structured interviews. According to interviews, the sources of these teachers? mathematical anxiety was determined by parent-teacher attitudes, inadequate study on mathematics, examination of their mathematical knowledge, lack of confidence, and the importance of mathematics in education system. Pre ? school education is conducted on compulsory basis in some of the developed countries and on voluntary basis in the others. Education of infant children has become an important issue in our country after primary education was made compulsory during the reign of Mahmud II. This situation was carried over to the republican period and the rulers of the young republic agreed on that total progress could be maintained by education. Accordingly the intellectuals and politicians of the era showed special interest in education. Hilmi Ziya Ülken, who is one of the intellectuals of the period, had made researches and expressed his opinions on subjects from education to history and from politics to philosophy. In this study, Hilmi Ziya Ülken?s thoughts on the importance of game and its relation to value in the education of pre ?school children is being analyzed. This study is based on the main works of the philosopher. In this study, which is a theoretical research, content analysis and interpreting data technics have been used.
