The research was done in Turkey. The data were gathered from 40 teachers from primary and secondary schools. Some of the participants (20 teachers) are science specialist teachers and the others (20 teachers) are non-science specialist teachers. The study is based on a qualitative approach. Firstly, astronomy diagrams from the middle school science textbooks were chosen by the researchers. Then the selected diagrams were shown to the teachers and they were asked what they see when they look at these selected astronomy diagrams. The data was treated by qualitative data analysis (open coding). It is indispensible fact that science specialist teachers and non-science specialist teachers have different knowledge about astronomy topics. However, while looking at the images, there are no much different responses (arrow, colour, text etc.) between these two groups of teachers. We conclude that it may be helpful to train teachers in the processes of constructing and reading diagrams. Surprise attracts human attention and from marketing and advertisement to education attracting human attention is very important. In a Bayesian context, this paper tries to explain how to measure 'surprise' by using relative entropy concept and discusses the various implications of this measurement. Abstract: The "openness" promoted by the liberalisation process referred, ironically, to the openness to the financial crises in developing world in the 1990s. Russian case was the leading one among them, in which the "shock therapy" implemented by the neo-liberal perspective has been still under discussion. The paper analyzes and discusses such crisis in terms of the relevant models of crisis. The paper maintains that contrary to the general view shaped by neo-liberal perspective, the Russian Crisis has several compounds, which cannot be easily tackled in terms of either first or second generation models, rather points to the third generation models. Since the third generation models can be handled as a combination of theories such as financial market failures, highly volatile capital flows and contagion problems the paper finds out that those are the most appropriate ones for the Russian case contrary to the neoliberal perspective. Participants were 458 university students who voluntarily filled out a package of self-report instruments. Student Academic Support Scale and Satisfaction with Life Scale were used as measures. The relationships between student academic support and life satisfaction were examined using correlation analysis and stepwise regression analysis. Life satisfaction was predicted positively by informational support, esteem support, motivational support, and venting support. The results were discussed with respect to the related literature. Academic support has been shown to be an important variable for understanding life satisfaction and well-being. Discourse Analysis is one of the strategies that lead to a better translation process and quality in translation. In that regard, this study aims to present DA as a translation strategy for translation practice and a useful tool for translator training. The relationship between DA and Translator Training is not widely studied. Therefore this study aims to define DA and how it can be used in translation practice and Translator Training. This case then has obliged those countries that have been entering to the mentioned competitive world markets, to develop different new procedures and techniques. Chance of success for the nations that cannot produce innovations will respectively be very low in the world new economic order. Our present century, in that respect will hence be probably referred as the era of "Innovation". In order to create novelties, we need to possess such systems which are constantly improving and making scientific researches. This function can only be best fulfilled by the scientific institutions, universities and research centres. Recently, the relationship between universities and industrial organizations has only be in a one -way and conducted within the quite limited intervals to meet the research requirements of the industry. The new requirements urge and force to establish more extensive, permanent and institutionalized relationship The purpose of this study is to provide recommendations to develop a more effective university-industry cooperation system for our country having the universities being 190 now in numbers and an industry capable to produce world-wide recognizable products in the international world markets.
