What makes a natural event a disaster is the degree to which people are affected by this event. Civilizations, countries and cities have sometimes been destroyed as a result of earthquakes, which are among the most destructive natural events that have occurred since the formation of the Earth. After disasters with great destructive effects such as earthquakes, people had to relocate and this caused waves of migration. Turkey is a country built on active fault lines. For this reason, our country has experienced many destructive earthquakes from past to present. Unfortunately, the recent Kahramanmaraş Earthquake of February 6, 2023 showed that we still do not have the upper hand in terms of earthquakes and caused tens of thousands of casualties, property losses amounting to billions of liras and turned 11 affected provinces into ghost towns. With this earthquake, there was a rapid migration from the region, and people who wanted to find a safe area for themselves migrated to nearby provinces that were not affected by the earthquake, causing a change in the demographics of these provinces. In this context, if the great Istanbul earthquake, which scientists say “will happen”, materializes, to which provinces the migration preferences of the people living in Istanbul will be, and the handling of the issue of migration in the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Plans of these provinces were examined.  In this context, the question of the study was determined as “Are the identified provinces prepared for the migration that will occur in the event of the expected Istanbul earthquake?”.  It was observed that this issue was not addressed in IRAPs and attention was drawn to this issue. In addition to this, suggestions are given for the provinces that are expected to receive migration in the event of the expected Istanbul earthquake to create urban resilience against the migration wave. The role of social media as a new public sphere in shaping narratives of war and occupation is analyzed through user experiences alongside algorithmic interventions. Employing qualitative research methods, selected Instagram posts were subjected to content analysis to detail power relations, hegemonic discourses, and censorship practices on digital media. Findings reveal that social media platforms act not only as passive arenas but also as political and ideological hegemonic mechanisms in conflict dynamics. User resistance strategies and alternative narrative efforts are also explored. The study sheds light on the complex relationship between occupation and media in the digital era and provides recommendations on the ethical and political dimensions of social media. Conducted during the 2025 academic year, the research systematically documented the shapes and details on tombstones and carried out a comparative analysis with the motifs, compositions, and color schemes of Döşemealtı carpets. The aim is to elucidate the channels of iconographic transmission that emerge between static (tombstone) and portable (carpet) surfaces in the material culture production of nomadic Yörük communities, in terms of formal similarity, typological continuity, and semiotic correspondences. The methodology comprises on-site observation and photographic documentation, pattern/contour extraction, the construction of motif typologies, and comparative iconographic analysis. Selected figures from tombstone ornamentation were matched with equivalent or derivative motifs in Döşemealtı carpets with respect to linear structure, rhythm, the balance of filled and void spaces, hierarchical placement, and color relationships. The findings indicate that specific formal elements observed on tombstones are represented on carpet surfaces through two principal modes, (i) direct transmission, whereby the form is reproduced as a motif with close fidelity; and (ii) stylistic adaptation, whereby the core schema is preserved while contour, proportion, and color are modified in alignment with local aesthetics. The identified parallels cluster especially around geometric arrangements, organic branch/shoot analogies, and zoomorphic associations. The assessment reveals that this iconographic affinity is not confined to visual resemblance alone; rather, it signals a multilayered cultural transmission reinforced by naming practices, craft techniques, and mechanisms of social memory. Technical choices that demonstrate continuity in carpet production (wool yarn preparation, natural dyestuffs, knotting technique) and a restricted yet semantically charged color palette are observed to align with the logic of emphasis and contrast in tombstone ornamentation. In this context, it is concluded that the spatial experience generated by nomadic mobility and the locality and continuity represented by tombstones converge into a shared visual language on the Döşemealtı carpet. The results demonstrate a meaningful iconographic and semiotic continuity between the formal configurations of Yörük tombstones in and around Antalya and the motifs of Döşemealtı carpets, realized along axes of direct quotation and stylistic reinterpretation. The research posits reciprocal nourishment and pattern transfers between funerary art and textile art with respect to the origins of the regional weaving tradition. For future studies, it is anticipated that typological mapping with a larger sample, dating through dye and material analyses, stylometric comparisons, and ethnographic interviews with practicing artisans will elucidate naming and meaning-attribution processes and reveal the temporal depth of this iconographic trajectory. This direction is expected to make concrete contributions to the documentation, preservation, and transmission strategies of regional cultural heritage. In a geography with a high earthquake risk such as Turkey, the functionality and implementation process of CEI are of great importance. In this study, the legal nature of CEI, the rights and obligations of the parties and the compensation principles are discussed, and the implementation of the relevant legislation in Turkey is evaluated in the light of the decisions of the Supreme Court of Appeals. In addition, a comparative analysis of CEI with international insurance systems is made and the problems encountered in practice are discussed. The study aims to offer solution suggestions for the legal gaps and problems encountered in practice regarding CEI. The effects of the Court of Appeals decisions on CEI applications are analyzed and suggestions are developed for the establishment of a fair and balanced insurance structure for both the insured and the insurers. In this context, a comprehensive assessment has been made regarding the current legal structure of CEI and the elimination of implementation problems. At the same time, the average life expectancy has increased worldwide and in our country, which means that the elderly population is also increasing. As individuals age, they grow older along with their chronic illnesses. A population that is aging with an increasing number of chronic diseases becomes a society composed of sick individuals. This is a disadvantageous situation in many aspects, both for individuals and for countries. As in many countries, our country has initiated various practices to prevent chronic diseases, ensure early diagnosis, keep them under control, and manage the disease process of individuals with chronic conditions in a healthy manner. In our country, screening and monitoring programs for chronic diseases have been made available to family physicians under the name of the Disease Management Platform. The effective implementation of these programs will contribute to healthy aging with fewer complications and less damage. This study aims to investigate the reasons behind the differences by comparing the screening rates and demographic data of the districts in Istanbul with the highest and lowest chronic disease screening rates. It is believed that discussing the findings and proposing solutions will contribute to the more effective use of the system. Therefore, the psychological state of employees is important in terms of safety and efficiency. It is known that a large portion of maritime accidents occur due to human errors. Those working in maritime areas face many negative effects such as long working hours, being away from their families, social isolation, irregular sleep hours, fatigue and stress. In addition, the hierarchical structure and cultural diversity in the environment create negative effects psychologically. This article examines the psychological effects of the ship environment on seafarers. It addresses the negative effects of stress, prolonged isolation and burnout syndrome. It also highlights the role of loss of situational awareness in maritime operations, drawing attention to the cognitive and emotional challenges faced by seafarers. The importance of psychosocial support mechanisms was stated, and suggestions were given to improve the psychological state of seafarers and to cope with professional difficulties. It was concluded that the maritime sector should develop more comprehensive policies and strategies to improve the psychological state of employees. Within this scope, the accounting profession is likewise influenced by this transformation; and, from the perspective of every state’s indispensable objective of preventing tax losses, artificial intelligence is assessed as capable of delivering significant advantages. In the reporting context, professional judgment is inherently a human process; therefore, it is concluded that artificial intelligence will not directly substitute the accounting reporting function. As in many fields today, opportunities and risks arising from digitalization and the use of artificial intelligence are actively debated in accounting; and it is observed that artificial intelligence focused on developing intelligent systems with human-like capabilities such as learning, planning, speaking, and problem-solving has begun to be applied in the accounting sector. The integration of artificial intelligence into accounting offers various conveniences for practitioners and users; however, it also points to potential issues that may emerge in the future. In banking, artificial intelligence applications are widely employed for obtaining market data, delivering banking services to customers, and facilitating communication; these applications are reported to strengthen banks’ reputations, enhance customer loyalty, contribute to new customer acquisition, reduce branch workloads, and increase service delivery speed. Thanks to AI-enabled solutions, banks are accelerating their access to customers and expanding the range of services they can offer with each passing day. With the digitalization of financial services, making individual investment decisions in an increasingly varied, complex, and volatile financial environment is becoming more challenging; rapidly evolving technology particularly artificial intelligence applications stands out as an indispensable support tool for individual investors. The proliferation of AI-based investment instruments (such as robo-advisors and algorithmic platforms) brings to the fore questions of how individual investors’ attitudes, susceptibility to influence, and usage tendencies toward these tools are shaped within their decision-making processes. The aim of this study is to examine this interaction in depth and to shed light on individual investors’ acceptance and usage tendencies of artificial intelligence in decision-making. Rome's transformation from a relatively small city-state to a vast empire is closely linked to changes in the army's source of manpower, organizational structure, and loyalty relationships. In this context, the recruitment process should not be considered merely as a means of obtaining soldiers. Therefore, the process should be regarded as one of the fundamental elements shaping Rome's organizational identity and understanding of legitimacy. The work examines ancient sources alongside modern literature using a comparative-historical method. In addition, archaeological data, epigraphic findings (recruitment inscriptions, veteran diplomas), and modern research are combined to present a multifaceted analysis. The findings show that during the Kingdom period, recruitment was based on a property-based and tribal citizen militia model; during the Republic period, the expanding war geography and economic crises forced the military structure towards institutionalization; and during the Principate period, a centralized and institutional army mechanism was established in line with Augustus' reforms. In conclusion, this research argues that recruitment practices in the Roman army were not merely a simple military organizational process, but also revealed the institutional structure, legitimacy, and social transformation of the Roman state. The main purpose of the research is to reveal through which causal mechanisms the level of press freedom determines states' foreign policy effectiveness. The study develops an original theoretical framework based on the synthesis of structural realism and power transition theory, introducing the "Betrayal Prevention-Public Opinion Influence Model" to the literature, which argues that press freedom both increases states' internal coherence and strengthens their positions in the international system. The main research question is formulated as "through which causal mechanisms does the level of press freedom determine states' foreign policy success and international power capacities?" and this question is answered through the hypothesis that "states with high levels of press freedom exhibit more consistent and effective performance in foreign policy through both their capacity to prevent administrative betrayal and their ability to influence international public opinion." The research was conducted using comparative case analysis method and is based on comprehensive field studies conducted in six cities of Switzerland, nineteen cities of nine European Union member countries, and seven cities of Turkey between 2019-2024. Qualitative data collected through in-depth conversational interviews with a total of nine hundred people and ethnographic observations were analyzed using methodological triangulation approach combined with comprehensive literature review. The study addresses the impact of press freedom on foreign policy through two main dimensions, the mechanism of preventing administrative betrayal and the capacity to influence international public opinion. The first mechanism encompasses how free press reduces the risk of making concessions to external forces and sacrificing national interests by increasing the accountability of state administrators; the second mechanism covers building legitimacy in the international arena by providing transparent and reliable information flow. Research findings empirically prove that states with high levels of press freedom exhibit more consistent and effective performance in foreign policy. Comparative analysis results conducted in fifteen different dimensions show that Switzerland has an average score of 4.20, EU average is 3.90, and Turkey has 2.40 for press freedom level, and these differences are directly related to foreign policy capacity. It has been determined that free press reduces the risk of making concessions to external forces by increasing the accountability of administrators, while also facilitating the achievement of foreign policy goals by building credibility and legitimacy in the international arena. The theoretical contribution of the study is conceptualizing press freedom as an operational power factor rather than a normative value in international relations discipline; its empirical contribution is proving this relationship through systematic data analysis; and its methodological contribution is successfully applying multi-country comparative field research design. In conclusion, it has been revealed that press freedom is not only a democratic value, but also an indispensable component of effective foreign policy. For future research, developing a "press freedom-based foreign policy effectiveness index" and examining this relationship in hybrid regimes is recommended.
